Human Rites
===========
International standards of human rights have meant to apply to all
people equally since 1949 as enshrined in the UN Charter. However there
are two main problems for realising the noble aims.

1. Only sharp vigilance and timely protest appears to be able to prevent
the tragedies of the twentieth century from recurring in the 21st.
Progress can be made when people of good will organize themselves to
make it happen. In New Zealand there are those dedicated to Human
Rights, some of whom appear in this programme.

2. Human rights all too often stop at civil rights, whereas the day to
day essentials to life, economic rights, are ignored or actively
suppressed. This programme brings that issue to the fore.
